Three weeks earlier than expected, our new motorhome arrived, a last-minute surprise in a year full of surprises. We spent the final day of 2016 saying goodbye to our daughter at the Raleigh-Durham airport, then saying hello to our Tiffin Allegro 32SA at the Campers Inn dealership just west of Winston-Salem. It was a relief to see how well the colors and finishes blended together, having trusted a computer display for most of those choices.
The 100-mile trip back to Chapel Hill was nearly all highway and light traffic, an easy introduction to driving such a large motorhome. Fortunately, I felt comfortable at 65 mph, managed to stay within my lanes, and maneuvered without incident . . . it helps to have four mirrors and three cameras to help with turns and lane changes!
Although we were given a thorough inside-and-outside motorhome tour at the dealership, it's going to take some time to become familiar with all the new systems and components. But we're looking forward to that and to organizing all those storage compartments, cabinets, and drawers . . . unexpected activities for this rainy New Years Day.
